Will the lucky number 13 work for the new Avatar movie?

The year is 2009 - it feels just like yesterday! Avatar, directed by James Cameron, hit the theatres. The movie was widely appreciated by the Korean audience who amassed cinema halls - 13 million of them! The question on everyone's minds was about its sequel. Finally, after the 13-year long wait - Avatar - The Way of Water - was released by 20th-century studios. But is the Korean audience still keen on the concept of Avatar? Let's find out.

The story continues where Jake Sully is living with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora. And once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na'vi race to protect their planet. While the movie is directed by James Cameron and has retained its star cast of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver, it has failed to woo the audience in its opening week. While Avatar 1 garnered sales of 1.7 billion on its opening day, Avatar 2 could only scrape up ₩0.2 billion [an 88% decrease in sales]. While the movie did increase its sales on the fourth and fifth days to ₩0.6billion, it slumped down again on the sixth and seventh days. Overall Avatar 2 opening week sales compared to Avatar 1 showed an 88% decrease in sales. Will the sales look up in the next coming weeks?
