This week's No. 1 Korean Box Office movie is The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure. The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure, released on January 26, 2022, is a spiritual sequel to the 2014 movie The Pirates, and is about the adventures of pirates who gather in the sea and search for the royal treasures that have disappeared without a trace.
The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure is a 2022 South Korean period adventure film directed by Kim Jeong-hoon and starring Kang Ha-neul, Han Hyo-joo, Lee Kwang-soo, Kwon Sang-woo. Director Kim Jung-hoon has been passionately producing films in Korea, including Walk Arm In Arm (2001), Sword In The Moon (2003), Petty Romance (2010), The Spies (2012), Broken (2013), The Accidental Detective (2015) and The Phone (2015).
As of February 7, 2022, the cumulative sales of pirates are 10,882,500,880 won. Also according to Korean Film Council (Kofic) integrated computer network, the film maintained its No. 1 position at the Korean Box Office release by gathering 1,122,489 cumulative admissions. It is the best opening for a film released in 2022 in South Korea so far. As of 0 o'clock on February 9, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases is about 50,000, but the heat of Korean movie consumers is not cooling down.
