Week 12: Moonfall
Updated: Mar 29, 2022
Korea Movie Net is going to show you Moonfall, a science fiction disaster film, for the second Korean Box Office this week. Moonfall is joined with the great scale of background, the director of masterpieces, and actors who have appeared in popular films. Released in Korea on March 16, 2022, Moonfall is about preventing the moon from falling to Earth. It tells the story to us of a super-artificial intelligence living on the moon trying to exterminate humanity, but the hero and his companions detonated an EMP bomb to neutralize its scheme and keep the Earth safe.
Moonfall is a film co-written, directed, and produced by Roland Emmerich. It stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, and Donald Sutherland. Roland Emmerich has been taken part in a total of 24 productions since 1984, and is well known to us for his works including Midway (2019), Independence Day: Resurgence (2016), 2012 (2009), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), Godzilla (1998), Independence Day (1996), and Stargate (1994).
As of March 24, 2022, the cumulative sales of Moonfall are 1,578,559,290 won and cumulative audience of the film are 153,892 at the Korea Movie Net premium data. Considering that Korean Box Office week number one is In Our Prime and number three is The Batman, Moonfall is doing very well. The popularity of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), and Game of Thrones (2017) in Korea is believed to be the reason why Korean consumers visit Moonfall. Moonfall's fast-growing popularity is expected to make enough profits in the Korean movie market.
