The Japanese animation movie 'Suzume' leads in March!

Japanese animation movies have always been a crowd favorite in Korea. And the latest release 'Suzume' commanded the box office in the month of March. The story depicts a high school girl and a mysterious young man trying to prevent a series of disasters across Japan. It is written and directed by Makoto Shinkai and features the voices of Nanoka Hara and Hokuto Matsumura.



The 122-minute masterpiece was displayed across 1,572 screens in Korea. And with it, totaled admissions of roughly 3 million people. Thus far, the movie has garnered monthly gross earnings of $24 million. This makes the movie hold the No.1 spot in terms of revenue share for March (41.69%). In terms of the viewing trend by gender, males made up 64% of admissions. Moreover, the age bracket of the 20s and 30s held the highest attendance rates of 36% and 35% respectively.
