'The First Slam Dunk': A Japanese Manga Series comes to life
Animation movies have always been received well by the audience of South Korea. And in the first week of the new year, 'The First Slam Dunk', written and directed by Takehiko Inoue and produced by Toei Animation and Dandelion Animation Studio, was released. It was based on Inoue's Slam Dunk manga series. In this movie, Hanamichi Sakuragi is often seen being dumped by girls. But his world changes when he enrolls at Shohoku High School. Hanamichi becomes interested in a girl named Haruko who loves the game of basketball and the story unfolds.

Since its release, the movie has witnessed a footfall of 345,262 moviegoers with a gross collection of roughly $3 million. Seventy-four percent of the crowd was male and 26% were female.
