Emergency Declaration [비상선언]: The COVID scare racks up ₩3.3billion on opening day!

Filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic took shape, “Emergency Declaration” is the latest Korean adrenaline rush that crams all the COVID-19 scares into a 2.5 hours wild airline disaster. Led by the legendary director, Han Jae-Rim - best known for directing 'The Face Reader in 2013 - the 13th Highest Grossing Film in South Korea - it is no wonder that this drama flick is filling up the theatres in South Korea.

The film not only comprises of a great script and an award-winning director, but its cast members are two Cannes-winning actors Song Kang-ho [lead actor in Oscar winner 'Parasite'], and Jeon Do-yeon, along with Lee Byung-hun, Kim Nam-gil, Im Si-wan, Kim So-jin and Park Hae-joon. When asked at a press conference on working with so many stars, Han said 'I could not believe it at first...I was confused whether I was shooting one film or seven different films at a time. I felt honored and appreciated it." In just a matter of 6 days, the film has managed to bag ₩ 15 billion with a cumulative audience of roughly 1.5 million.
